Title: Max Rohn is on a mission to reclaim Invictus Games title

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/invictus-games-2016-orlando-team-usa-meet-max-rohn/

This was a very heartwarming story. The more you read the more attached to the story you become. I enjoyed all of the quotes from those associated with Max Rohn and the Invictus Games. I wish we could’ve had more pictures or videos associated with Max. However, this is an overall great job by CBS news.

Title: Former Disney child star charged in bank robbery

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/former-child-star-charged-in-bank-robbery/

This article was short and to the point. It told of the person that was charged with bank robbery. The reference of his film was also put into the story with a clip. It also showed a picture of the child star when they were younger. However, I would try to find a recent picture of the former child star. Also, if there’s any information on other things he did leading up to this crime.

Title: Official Whitney Houston doc in the works from Oscar-winner

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/official-whitney-houston-doc-in-the-works-from-oscar-winner/

This news article was straight to the point. It was obviously written immediately after the press release of the announcement. That is understandable because news is done by relevance. However, it was about an Oscar director who would work on Whitney Houston’s documentary. There was no information on other movie’s he’s worked on. There was only one graphic of the pop star’s funeral in slideshow form. I believe there should’ve been more substance to the story. If it was just an announcement it could’ve been put in a tweet or picture. It’s important to give readers something to read.

Story 2

Title: Want to use the bathroom before Uber arrives? Think again

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/want-to-use-the-bathroom-before-uber-arrives-think-again/

The story was informative on the changes that Uber is developing I would suggest it being a bit clearer. It states that there’s a grace period. Then, it says you’ll be charged. Then it says there’s glitches with the software. Overall, it was very imformative. I loved that it had different quotes related to Uber.

Title: Body of missing Indiana toddler found; suspect in custody

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/shaylyn-ammerman-body-of-missing-indiana-toddler-found-suspect-in-custody/

This article was informative. Just by reading the Headline and the first paragraph I knew exactly what was going on. The picture at the top of the story made it more personable. I however didn’t like the ads on the side. One of the ads was for a cocktail cruise. It was disheartening. I believe that stories like this deserve a blank page. It’s just respectful.

Story 2

Title: What did Paul Ryan give up for lent?

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/what-did-paul-ryan-give-up-for-lent-this-year/

The article was great with giving the content in the headline. I did like that there was a video to support the information given. Also, considering it was Lent I love the time relevancy of the article. Overall, it was well written. It also include what other political figures had given up for lent. I just think that the article was long for such a simple question. Maybe it should’ve been a piece on the new Speaker of the House instead of the one question.

Title: From SeaWorld to Whole Foods, animal advocates shake up big biz

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/from-seaworld-to-whole-foods-animal-welfare-activists-score/

I loved how the title told me exactly what the story was about. The story was showcased its credibility with numerous of graphics, videos, and links. I also enjoyed how the writer stayed professional in remaining out of the story and stating facts. The only complaint that I have is that the CBS News website had a a lot of extra activity on the sides of the page and pop ups. It made it distracting. For example, a video played abruptly that didn’t coincide with the story. It was an ad.

Story 2

Title: Google confuses Kevin Hart for Bill Cosby

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/google-confuses-kevin-hart-for-bill-cosby/

The story was accurate with the title. I knew exactly what to expect when reading it. I loved how it was a comical situation, especially considering it involved two comedians. The writing was more relaxed and comical. I enjoyed the tweet reaction that Kevin Hart gave. However, I know that the Bill Cosby alleged rape case is a big issue. I didn’t enjoy the leading thought that the writer gave and bring up Bill Cosby’s rape allegations. It made the article distasteful at the end.

Title:  Romney praised Donald Trump’s business skill in 2012, then flip-flopped in 2016

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/mar/06/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-praised-donald-trumps-business-skill-2/

This article does a good job with proving its statements. Obviously this is a political news source, it does a good job of swaying readers to different candidates with stories. In particular, this story sways viewers away from voting from Donald Trump. Politifact.com, covers former Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney’s speech over Donald Trump and recalling the two’s interactions. I loved the links that were to their previous articles over. I also enjoyed the video clips giving the story credibility. This style of writing was more commentary based. I would improve by having more of a unbiased approach. It’s better as a journalist to let the the audience decide for their opinion. However, fans of this style of writing know what its about and more than likely agree with the writer.

House of Cards Isn’t the Best Thing Coming to Netflix in March

By: Julia Hays

http://www.eonline.com/news/742524/house-of-cards-isn-t-the-best-thing-coming-to-netflix-in-march

This article was very helpful to Netflix users. A simple story of giving dates and names of shows or movies that will appear became a comical piece. I liked that it showed pictures of the shows and movies that she loved. It made it personal. It gave a little opinion and I was very entertained.

Title: “Bernie Baby” Dead

http://www.tmz.com/2016/03/03/bernie-baby-dies-sids-bernie-sanders/

The article was informative in letting viewers know who exactly the Bernie Sanders baby was. Even if viewers had no idea, the article showed the viral photo of the child. Also, the information on how the baby did of SIDS, how old the baby was and when the death happened. Sadly, I don’t feel like the article was somber enough for the death of this child. The headline was absolutely horrible. Dead is such a strong word. Perhaps I wouldn’t’ve been so disgusted and disappointed in the headline if it said “Viral ‘Bernie Sanders Baby’ Passes”. Also the article only showcased two photos of the baby in the Bernie Sanders attire. Maybe photos of the baby and the family and quotes from the family on how lovely the baby was would’ve been better.

Title: O.J. Simpson:  Buried Knife Recovered at O.J.’s Estate

tmz.com/

Very detailed. I loved how elaborate it was in giving facts of the Notorious trial and death. I loved that it let readers and viewers know where OJ was now. However the article was posted as soon as the information was leaked. The article does read as if it’s a lot of hearsay. There aren’t any quotes from the cop that found the knife and the friend that reported the information. Either way, this story is a developing story with many moving parts. I am glad that they recently posted a update video of the police’s statement on the knife being found. Also, the writer and founder posted a descriptive video of all the information and how they gathered it.

Title: Stop Everything: High School Musical 4 is Officially Happening (3/1)

http://www.eonline.com/news/745083/stop-everything-high-school-musical-4-is-officially-happening

This article showcases different types of eye catchers to keep the reader interested. The site E online is a known gossip site.  I love that it shows videos, pictures, and hyperlinks to support the article. I also enjoy that the article isn’t just a strict news article and loves to crack jokes. However, this is a gossip site but it more less was a blog post about the nostalgic kid movie rather than informing of the new edition. This article was fun because I was a fan of the movie. I’m a little disappointed in the lack of information though. Nonetheless, it was fun.

Title: Russell Wilson: Flyin’ with Baby Future without Ciara (3/1)

http://www.tmz.com/2016/03/01/russell-wilson-ciara-future-baby/

This article is credible by showing a short video of Russell Wilson and Ciara’s child, Baby Future, entering the airport. However, the title of the article is misleading as in they were the only people entering the airport. This article is to cause controversy since Ciara is dating a football player. Ciara was formally with a Rapper Future, who is Baby Future’s father. The Rapper Future has voiced that he doesn’t like that their child is always with the Football player. This article didn’t explain in the headline that Baby Future was actually with Ciara’s Father and that Russell Wilson was there.

“Trump wins big in South Carolina; Clinton takes Nevada”

Feb. 20, 2016

This article gave descriptive information on the campaign, all of the candidates, primary holdings, and dropouts. The AP never disappoints in giving detailed unbiased information. It continues to give insights and quotes from all of the candidates. Also the headline showcases that Donald Trump nor Hilary Clinton would be the topic of conversation only. However, the Headline does give you a summary or idea of what the article is depicting without even having to read it fully. I enjoyed reading it. However, the article was very full in detail. This is a article that didn’t involve a type of blog reading it could pass as a printed article as well. The article showcased 8 pictures of a slideshow.

Story 2:

“Harper Lee, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ author, dead at 89”

http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/19/entertainment/harper-lee-obit-feat/index.html

Very detailed and busy article. The article oozed of all sorts of information, pictures, endeavors and quotes by the late Harper Lee. That after reading it the reader becomes fully equipped and aware of all major things Harper Lee. I loved being able to see a quick video summarizing the situation. I loved seeing the embedded tweets about Harper Lee from fellow fans of her work. I also enjoyed that there were numerous of pictures to get a visual sight of who Harper Lee was. I didn’t enjoy however the articles on the side, pop ups in between and the end of the article that didn’t pertain to Harper Lee. Sometimes too busy of an article distracts the reader. However, a great article that exposed such a great woman.

Story 1:”People protest Beyoncé’s Super Bowl show are organizing a protest at Super Bowl Headquarters” published on February 10, 2016

http://www.businessinsider.com/beyonce-protest-super-bowl-2016-2

This article was posted in a very timely manner considering the Super Bowl was just Sunday. It covered the response of many onlookers of the Halftime show. This article was informative and not bias. It gave detailed information on quotes by the protestors. The only complaint I have is the opposing side by Beyoncé. It didn’t receive any sort of quotes from her or her team.

Story 2: “Kanye West: I Paid the Extras at my Show those kids are losing it” published on February 12, 2016

http://www.tmz.com/2016/02/12/kanye-west-extras-yeezy-season-3/

This article is far from credible. It mentions different of alleged sources. This is considered a gossip site. I believe the story would be better rewritten and with detailed information and with names included. The image was fine though.

Beyoncé Hires New Management Team (February  4, 2016)

http://www.rap-up.com/2016/02/04/beyonce-hires-new-management-team/

This story was explained Beyoncé’s new manager and explained why she fired her old management team. This story was great at getting quotes from Beyoncé’s publicist. Also the story showcased different pictures of Beyoncé and referenced her expected performance at the Superbowl. The weakness of the story was that it didn’t receive a quote from Beyoncé’s former manager. It was mainly quotes on Beyoncé’s behave about her. This story was onesided and bias on the situation. Perhaps they attempted to receive a quote from Beyoncé’s former manager and she agreed with publicist or denied a comment. Overall it was a good article about Beyoncé’s reasons of hiring a expected better management team.

Story 2:

Chris Brown’s ex, Nia Guzman, says singer gave daughter Royalty asthma by smoking around her (January 31, 2016)

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/nia-guzman-chris-brown-gave-daughter-asthma-smoking-article-1.2515618

This article was about recent court documents filed about Chris Brown giving his daughter asthma by smoking around her. The custody documents were filed by Chris Brown’s daughter’s mother, Nia Guzman. The only strength that I can give this article is that it gives important detailed quotes that are in the document. That is important. This article however didn’t do a good job in being unbiased and nonfactual. The article states that Nia Guzman was Chris Brown’s ex which she was not. Also, the article states different instances where Chris Brown was in trouble by the law. Some of the instances he was never in court for because of lack of evidence. By reading this article readers are swayed in there opinion about him. Not once did the article mention charity or the last time he was in trouble with the law. This article only showcased the instances where he was in trouble. Also, quotes by Chris Brown should’ve been mentioned. Including the information given by the judge on their last custody battle.
