Title: Two female “Bachelor” contestants find love – with each other

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/two-female-bachelor-contestants-find-love-with-each-other/

  • Great storytelling! While reading you could visualize the story as if you knew the two characters. Added touches of convergence with pictures and posts from their social media sites. As well as a glimpse at their interaction from “The Bachelor”.

Title: Kim Kardashian tick-tick-ticks off 60 Minutes viewers

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/kim-kardashian-tick-tick-ticks-off-60-minutes-viewers/

  • Love the title! It let’s loyal fans of “60 Minutes” in on a topic that they may relate to and only understand. Also, great way of making it more conversational then so factual. I would’ve loved to see an interactive poll on readers opinion on the matter.

Title:New leaked emails add fuel to Clinton Foundation controversy

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/2016-race-hillary-clinton-michelle-obama-campaigns-in-north-carolina-battleground-state/

  • May have been a computer error or perhaps CBS News error. The link was mainly for a specific topic on First Lady Obama on the campaign trail, however once the article was open it was about another issue. That’s the main thing that should be corrected.

Title: Melania Trump: My husband and I are “moving on” from 2005 tape

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/melania-trump-my-husband-and-i-are-moving-on-from-2005-tape/

  • Great article! It recapped all of the major parts of the interview. Also, the article gave insight on the purpose of the interview. However, it would’ve been best for them to incorporate the video that she is discussing. Overall a great recap article.

Title: Billy Bush and NBC strike a deal over his exit after lewd Trump tape

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/billy-bush-cuts-deal-with-nbc-news-after-lewd-donald-trump-tape/

  • A great article! I loved how they gave insight and a thorough back story of the issue at hand. CBS News did good with also given a good fact on Bush’s relation to the presidential family. Would’ve loved to have a snippet of Bush’s parts in the Trump tape.

Title: While gaining female support, voters still question Clinton’s truthfulness

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/elections-2016-hillary-clinton-gaining-support-among-women-motives-in-question-wikileaks/

  • Great information! I would love to have had a graph of the poll records. Also, an interactive poll for users to vote. I know they said that they used readers votes but it would be great to integrate those things.

UNT Takes Hunger Games, Literally

Everyone knows the world phenomenon movie series, Hunger Games. Well, the University of North Texas has taken a twist on hunger and involved a game. This delightful twist is called ‘Grocery Bingo’. All students are able to participate in a fun game of bingo for favorite selected groceries as a prize.

The University Program Council (UPC) tries to incorporate tons of activities for its students. There are events nearly every week day at various times. Events like; Open Mic Night at the syndicate, Movie Nights and Popcorn at the Lyceum, Carnivals at the Library mall and much more. The UPC even holds meetings with staff members that contain volunteer students to make events that will entertain, help and bond all students. These meetings helped make the event held on Wednesday, October 5th possible.

Students started to arrive and sit about fifteen minutes before the event at 11am. They were greeted by volunteers in collared green sports shirt with Eagle symbols next to their heart. As they entered there was a table to pick up all the need supplies for bingo; a bingo card, pen/pencil and a bingo dot. After gathering supplies, there were tables available to sit and prepare for the amazing game. While students flowed the aisles chatting with fellow classmates and friends, there was a sound system playing a mixture of Top 40 music hits. From Nicki Minaj to Luke Bryan to The Chainsmokers, there was a lighter spirit in the room than the studies that the students were escaping from. At promptly 11am, an announcer approached the podium and began calling the letters and numbers combo. After a minute of playing, a faint “BINGO!” would be heard in the distance causing everyone to cheer and then groan at disapproval of their losing card. One lucky winner approached the podium to prove her win. She gazed from the announcer to her right to see a table full of specially selected groceries.

One of the winners specified that she tries to come to the events frequently. She stated how she picked a great prize that is considered a ‘Surprise Bag’.

Students from different classes and majors gathered to the two hour event to experience. The free event is a great way to meet people. Also, take their mind of an issue that is oppressing. Hunger for students that are struggling to pay bills, work, study and have a social life. This issue helped take students mind off of those issues and offer prizes that will impact them for the better.

Title: Nate Parker

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minutes-nate-parker-birth-of-a-nation-anderson-cooper/

  • A good example of convergence in a news article. This story used it’s broadcast from the night before and chopped it up to make a full news article. With surrounding components of the pictures and videos, this really was a great recap article. I would’ve loved to see follow up stats of premiere week of the film.

#2

Title: Kim Kardashian West robbed at gunpoint in Paris

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/kim-kardashian-west-held-up-at-gunpoint-in-paris-spokesperson-says-kanye-west/

  • Good article. Loved seeing the picture of Kim and Kanye together considering it discussed the cancellation of his show. Since it was released that Kim had posted on Snapchat moments before the robbery, it would’ve been great to have that integrated in the story as a video.

#3

Title: LeBron James endorses Hillary Clinton for president

Url: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/lebron-james-endorses-hillary-clinton-for-president/

  • Mainly the article was just an overview of what Lebron James stated in an open letter to the public. I loved the link and tweet. Would’ve been great to provide information on any future fundraisers he’ll participate in or any donations that he had given.
